Kirovograd region is located in central part of Ukraine (within its territory there is a geographical center of Ukraine), between two rivers of Dnepr and Yuzhny Bug. It borders in the north – with Cherkassy region, on a north-east – with Poltava region, on east and south-east – with Dnepropetrovsk region, on south – with Nikolayev region, on south-west – with Odessa region, on west – with Vinnitsa region.

Kirovograd region consists of 21 administrative districts, 12 cities from which 4 are under regional submission, 26 settlements, and 1010 villages.

The leading branches of the region, related to the agroindustrial complex are food industry, agricultural engineering and building industry. Food industry (gives near 45% of gross products of the region) is represented by 11 sugar plants, 5 alcohol plants, number of meat processing and packing factories, creameries and oil-mill enterprises.

Mining industry is determined by brown coal mining, uranium ore, mining and processing of graphite. The non-ferrous metallurgy got some development at the region.

Agriculture occupies one of the leading places in the economy of the region, it is specializes on the production of grain, sugar beet, sunflower, dairy-meat animal husbandry, gardening and market-gardening.

In the particular branch structure of agriculture gross products the leading place belongs to the plant-growing, specific gravity of what is 73%, animal husbandry – 27%.

Basic grain-crops grown at the region are winter crops of wheat, corn on grain, leguminous plants, buckwheat and millet.

A considerable place among industrial crops is occupied by the sunflower and sugar beet. Gardening specializes on growing of apples, pears, plums, cherries and berries.

Animal husbandry is based on breeding of pigs, cattle, sheep. 2 equestrian factory and 2 pedigree farms are engaged in breeding of pedigree horses. 292 industrial enterprises operate in the industrial complex of the region, engulfing 12 leading industries.

In the scales of country Kirovograd region is characterized by the powerful production of agricultural aggregates – sowing-machines («Krasnaya Zvezda» - Kirovograd city), devices («Akustika» – Znamenka city, «Calculator», «Etal» –Svetlovodsk city, Kirovograd radio equipment plant, «Pishmash», Kirovograd city), printing equipment (Alexandriyskiy plant of printing engineering).

The non-ferrous metallurgy produces the ferronickel, tungsten (Svetlovodsk State group of enterprises of carboloyes and refractory metals), semiconductor materials are silicon (Svetlovodsk factory of clean metals) and so on.
